About The Position

The Associate Director of Construction Services is responsible for assisting the Director with leading and overseeing the Construction team within Facilities Planning, Design, and Construction. This position is responsible for overseeing project managers, project management, estimating, construction, and project construction communications. This position is instrumental in the development, implementation, and overall management of assigned University capital construction projects. This position is involved in commissioning, project documentation, close-out, and project information archive management services, design guideline updates, and the project design review process. This position requires good interpersonal skills for conducting in person, telephone, and written communications with all levels of the University community and a wide spectrum of internal and external entities and agencies including consultants, vendors, architects, engineers, interior designers, contractors, tradespeople, suppliers, furniture suppliers, etc. Required communications range from project and schedule information communications, requests for information, assistance, or service, to more complicated inquiries related to planned construction work or work in progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s (or higher) degree.
  • Three (3) years (36 months) of full time (or part time equivalent) professional level work experience in building construction management, building project management, or a closely related field, of which one (1) year (12 months) must have included supervisory experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with MS Project, and University Facility Management software programs
  • Knowledge of State of Illinois and Illinois State University purchasing requirements
  • Knowledge of Illinois State University Design Guidelines
  • Knowledge and experience with construction project manuals and specifications
  • Knowledge of the ISU University campus

Responsibilities
