About The Position
The Associate Director of Career Education (Career Services Consultant) at Indiana University plays a pivotal role in the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, which is recognized for its innovative approach to technology education and research. This position is integral to the Luddy Career Services team, focusing on the development and delivery of career development courses tailored to meet the needs of students at various stages of their academic journey, from exploratory students to those pursuing advanced degrees. The role emphasizes empowering students to define their career goals, develop essential professional skills, and gain relevant experience to maximize their career potential. In this high-impact role, the Associate Director will collaborate closely with the Senior Associate Director to continuously refine the career course curriculum in response to evolving student needs and industry trends. The position involves teaching up to eight sections of career development courses annually, providing personalized guidance to students through one-on-one meetings that cover critical topics such as self-assessment, career exploration, resume and cover letter writing, job search strategies, interview preparation, and salary negotiation. Additionally, the Associate Director will be responsible for updating course materials each semester based on student feedback and evaluations, ensuring that resources remain relevant and effective. The role also includes developing and presenting workshops and programming aimed at enhancing the career readiness of Luddy students. Staying informed about current trends in the technology industry is essential, as this knowledge will enable the Associate Director to provide accurate and timely information regarding the competencies that employers seek. Overall, this position is designed to support the professional and career development of students and alumni, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages student success and engagement with various stakeholders, including employers and faculty.
