The Department of Music at The College of New Jersey welcomes applications for an Associate Director of Bands and Artist Teacher of Instrumental Performance. This is a full-time, clinical specialist position (non-tenure track). Teaching and academic-advising responsibilities to include: Conduct TCNJ Concert Band and/or TCNJ Wind Orchestra. Serve as artist-teacher (private lesson faculty) in the candidate’s area of expertise. Teach additional courses in the music education curriculum based on the candidate’s area of expertise and department needs. Possible courses might include conducting, instrumental literature, brass/woodwind/percussion methods courses, and student teaching supervision. Serve as the academic advisor for a cohort of music majors and/or minors. The successful candidate will contribute to the growth of the Department of Music, in close collaboration with the Director of Bands. They will foster a high-level performance and education environment in a diverse liberal arts context. Excellent oral, interpersonal, and writing skills are required. A clear understanding of current developments in secondary and post-secondary education is essential. In order to be considered for promotion, service to the College is expected, with a prioritization of independent, departmental, and college-wide recruitment. Developing and maintaining contacts and sustained relationships with local and regional music educators is crucial.
