The Associate Director of Medical Imaging Support leads and develops a high‑performing team of Medical Imaging Assistants and Internal Schedulers who play a critical role in patient access and imaging operations. This role partners closely with imaging and operational leaders to optimize scheduling, patient flow, and daily workflows while fostering a positive, engaged team culture. The ideal candidate is a collaborative healthcare leader with a passion for coaching teams, improving processes, and enhancing the patient experience through strong operational support. This role offers the opportunity to lead and develop a critical medical imaging support team that plays a direct role in improving patient access and operational success. It is a high‑visibility leadership position, partnering closely with imaging and operational leaders across the organization. The Associate Director makes a meaningful impact without direct clinical load, focusing on people, processes, and creating an exceptional patient and staff experience. Schedule: This is a salaried full-time opportunity. Ideal schedule will be Monday-Friday from 8am-4:30pm with some flexibility required to accommodate business needs. Additionally, the campus responsibilities include fully integrated multi-specialty and sub-specialty clinics. POSITION SUMMARY This position plans and provides operational, financial, managerial and clinical support within the assigned departments/areas. The position manages employees and oversees staff selection, training, performance feedback and scheduling. This position ensures optimal care and treatment to patient population while demonstrating clinical expertise to ensure high quality, safe, and cost-effective patient care. The role oversees a combined staff of RNs and medical imaging technologists.

Requirements

  • BSN or MSN required for all new hires.
  • BSN required for internal transfers/promotions within 6 months of transfer/promotion.
  • Requires a current RN license in state of practice.
  • Requires BLS certification.
  • Must possess a strong knowledge and understanding of clinical care management as normally demonstrated through two years of clinical management experience relevant to patient population.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills of specialty area.
  • Requires critical thinking, communication, influence, decision-making, analytical, and flexibility skills to make optimal decisions based on multiple variables and desired outcomes.
  • Must have the ability to practice skills according to department and professional standards and quality requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in nursing preferred.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and facilitates patient centered nursing care for designated patient populations by serving as a real-time clinical expert for unit staff and physicians for escalated problem-solving on patients, processes, and family issues. Manages the operations of the unit to ensure smooth and efficient patient care management and resource utilization.
  • Leads change by developing, implementing and evaluating quality and process improvement initiatives of the department in conjunction with the director. Seeks and utilizes input from staff and oversees change implementation. Ensures compliance with appropriate regulatory agencies. May analyze data and healthcare trends to gain efficiencies and improve patient outcomes.
  • Facilitates communication of system, regional, facility and department initiatives.
  • Manages and develops the operational and capital budgets and use of associated resources.
  • Assures the development of staff leadership through the design of effective shared leadership models and supports career development opportunities. Functions as a role model and encourages staff to actively participate in their career growth.
  • Oversees selection, orientation, onboarding, and retention. Demonstrates leadership through coaching, performance evaluations, corrective action, and development opportunities to create a culture of learning.
  • Manages large single unit or multiple clinical units to ensure excellent patient care. Actively develops leadership of entry level nurse manager(s) while leading clinical improvement initiatives. Internal customers include patients, staff, and physicians. External customers include patient family.
  • Serves as a resource and provides leadership assistance to achieve optimal clinical, operational, financial, and satisfaction outcomes. Acts as a consultant within the organization. Collaborates with all departments to assist with patient flow and process improvement.
  • Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department. May provide patient care as needed in accordance with established departmental/facility policies and procedures.
