About The Position

Scotia Capital (USA), Inc. seeks Associate Director, Investment Banking – U.S. Midstream in Houston, TX to lead and manage the day-to-day execution of complex midstream transactions with limited senior management oversight. Build and maintain strong relationships with midstream energy clients to secure mandates for transactions and advisory services. Identify new business opportunities, provide strategic guidance, and lead the development of pitch books to win M&A, financing or advisory mandates. Build and review sophisticated financial models for midstream assets, including discounted cash flow (DCF), leveraged buyout (LBO) and accretion/dilution models. Manage the due diligence process for midstream deals, assessing operational, financial, regulatory and environmental risks. Create high quality marketing materials, including pitch books, teasers, confidential information memorandums and management presentations tailored to midstream transactions. Collaborate with other Scotiabank banking teams (e.g., debt capital markets, equity capital markets, and corporate banking) to deliver integrated solutions for midstream clients. Mentor and manage junior bankers, overseeing their work on financial models, pitch books, and client deliverables to ensure completion of the work is efficient. Ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or related occupation: leading transactions and managing client relationships
  • working in the energy midstream sector, including participating in midstream infrastructure deals, working on mergers & acquisitions, debt/equity financings, and project finance deals
  • building and analyzing complex financial models, including discounted cash flow (DCF), leveraged buyout (LBO) and accretion/dilution models
  • utilizing valuation methods including comparable company analysis, precedent transactions, and enterprise valuation tailored to midstream assets
  • providing guidance on midstream economics and sector regulations, including fee-based revenue models, throughput agreements, and the regulatory framework in the midstream sector, including FERC regulations in U.S.
  • utilizing financial platforms including Bloomberg, Capital IQ or FactSet
  • working with energy-specific platforms.
  • 15% required for domestic and international travel.
  • FINRA SIE, Series 63 and Series 79 required.
