About The Position

The Associate Director of Individual Giving at Ocean Conservancy is a strategic fundraising role focused on mobilizing resources to support the organization's mission of ocean protection. The position involves developing and leading a moves management program targeting various donor levels, managing donor relationships, and ensuring alignment within the Individual Giving team and the broader Development department. Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or relevant equivalent work experience.
  • At least five years of relevant development experience.
  • Working knowledge of development principles and practices.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Experience managing complex calendars and projects.
  • Ability to track and maintain multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to think and act with a strategic perspective.
  • Familiarity with Raisers Edge donor management system preferred.
  • Ability to manage priorities and elevate issues to senior managers when necessary.
  • Interest in managing staff.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute fundraising strategies to secure annual program fundraising goals ($10-12M+) and advance conservation impact.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Individual Giving team, including portfolio and prospect moves management systems.
  • Create and manage systems to ensure team members meet deadlines and goals.
  • Support management of donor portfolios for the Director, CDO, and CEO, ensuring annual goals are met.
  • Develop high-level briefings for senior development staff in advance of meetings with major and principal gift level donors.
  • Manage operational budgeting components of the Individual Giving program, including annual budget production and quarterly reports.
  • Track and manage restricted and unrestricted gift reporting requirements in alignment with donor intent.
  • Supervise the acknowledgment process for mid-level, major, and principal gift level donors.
  • Maintain database integrity and produce lists and queries to support the individual giving team.
  • Manage consultant relationships and contracted projects as needed.
  • Support the Director of Individual Philanthropy on key projects as needed.
  • Manage a calendar and portfolio of writing responsibilities for donor proposals and reports.
  • Coordinate responses to major/principal donor inquiries with senior development leadership.
  • Support production of individual giving materials and communications, including direct mail and emails.
  • Lead hiring, onboarding, professional development, and evaluation efforts for team members.
