The Associate Director, Grants Lead - Medical Affairs is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the Investigator Sponsored Trial (IST) and Medical Education Grant programs. This role will manage the end-to-end grants processes, including intake, review, contracting, execution, tracking, documenting, and reporting. The ideal candidate will bring strong cross-functional collaboration, project management, and communication skills to ensure the successful execution of grant programs aligned with Medical Affairs objectives.

  • Lead the IST and Medical Education Grant programs, ensuring alignment with internal areas of interest and budget.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define and post areas of interest by therapeutic area on respective grants portals.
  • Manage the intake and triage of grant proposals through the portal, working with researchers and medical education professionals to ensure complete documentation for consideration.
  • Create informative and concise proposal summaries for review of various decision-making committees.
  • Lead cross-functional review committee meetings and drive proposals to resolution and decision.
  • Oversee communication with external grantees and ensure timely updates throughout the grant lifecycle.
  • Manage the contracting process for approved studies in collaboration with Legal and Procurement.
  • Track progress of ongoing studies and ensure timely milestone-based payments.
  • Evaluate and manage proposed changes to ongoing studies.
  • Collect, analyze, and communicate medical education metrics and IST publications at program closeout.
  • Manage grants portal vendor to ensure issue resolution, system updates, optimal functionality, and high-value licensing agreements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and innovation in grants processes and systems.
  • Execute operational projects to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Partner with Medical Directors, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of grant programs.
  • Ensure all activities are compliant with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, business, or related field; advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare research, with at least 5 years in grants management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing ISTs and/or medical education grants.
  • Strong understanding of compliance requirements related to grants and HCP interactions.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Experience with grants management systems and vendor oversight.
  • Familiarity with contract lifecycle management and financial tracking tools.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support business objectives.
