About The Position

The Associate Director of Global Partnerships & Engagement is responsible for advancing the global recruitment, institutional partnerships, and alumni engagement strategy for the Watanabe Scholars Program. This role serves as an ambassador for Brandeis University, with a primary focus on increasing the visibility and reputation of the university in Japan and across key Asian markets, including South Korea, China, and Southeast Asia. The position requires significant extended international travel (50–75%) and close collaboration with Enrollment Management (Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions), Study Abroad, Advancement, and other campus partners. The Associate Director will develop sustainable recruitment pipelines, maintain established relationships, cultivate strategic partnerships, and build a strong global alumni network to support program growth and long-term impact. In addition, this role will support and implement broader global initiatives as directed by the Provost. The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $90,000.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in international education, global recruitment, partnership development, or a related field
Demonstrated success in recruiting students in international markets, particularly in Asia
Experience building and sustaining partnerships across institutions and cultures
Ability and willingness to travel internationally up to 50–75%
Valid US Driver’s License
Strong cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills
Strong public speaking abilities
Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across varied environments
Strategic thinking with the ability to execute operationally
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in higher education, international relations, business, or a related field
Experience working with selective scholarship or honors programs

Responsibilities

Global Recruitment & Outreach (40%) Develop and implement strategic international recruitment plans focused on the Watanabe Scholars Program.
Represent Brandeis University at recruitment events, high schools, universities, and partner organizations across Asia.
Build and maintain, and continue to foster existing strong relationships with key feeder schools and educational organizations.
Collaborate with Enrollment Management to align recruitment goals, messaging, and yield strategies.
Monitor and report on recruitment activity, trends, and outcomes.
Evaluate and assess international undergraduate and graduate applications from Japan, other Asian markets, and select countries to support program enrollment goals.
Partnership Development & Institutional Engagement (25%) Identify, develop, and manage strategic partnerships with international institutions and organizations
Serve as a liaison between Brandeis and global partners to ensure alignment and sustained engagement
Collaborate with Study Abroad and other campus offices to support international initiatives and exchanges
Support development of new opportunities that enhance global engagement and program visibility
Alumni Engagement & Network Development (20%) Design and implement strategies to engage alumni of the Watanabe Scholars Program
Build and expand a global alumni network, including individuals affiliated with other institutions who were Watanabe Scholars
Partner with Advancement and Alumni Relations to leverage alumni in recruitment, mentorship, and outreach efforts
Coordinate alumni events and engagement opportunities in key regions
Program Visibility & Communications (10%) Increase awareness and prestige of the Watanabe Scholars Program, with a strong emphasis on Japan
Serve as a visible representative of Brandeis University in external engagements
Administrative, Operational & Global Initiatives (5%) Coordinate across internal stakeholders including the Provost’s Office, Enrollment, and Study Abroad
Track program metrics, partnerships, and engagement outcomes
Manage own travel planning, budgets, and reporting requirements
Implement additional global initiatives and special projects as directed by the Provost, supporting broader institutional priorities
