About The Position

This role involves leading AI-powered forecasting to guide investment choices for therapies serving people with rare diseases. The Associate Director will co-lead the medium-to-long range financial outlook for a high-impact therapy area, shaping the Long Term Plan and informing senior leaders and the market. The position requires close partnership with R&D, Global Portfolio Analytics, and Commercial leaders across therapy areas and regions to enhance forecast accuracy, enable intelligent automation, and develop executive-ready insights. The work will translate complex signals into clear recommendations to achieve ambitious targets and accelerate access to life-changing medicines, appealing to individuals who excel at the intersection of advanced analytics and executive decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, commerce, or business administration.
  • 8+ years’ experience in Finance/Controlling/FP&A positions.
  • Experience in commercial finance FP&A roles at Global or Market level.
  • An enterprise approach and strong understanding of the key commercial drivers of a business.
  • Experience applying AI/Machine Learning techniques in finance to automate data pipelines, enhance forecasting, and accelerate insights.
  • Advanced proficiency with Anaplan model building and PowerBI to create executive-ready dashboards.
  • Executive presence and communication with well-developed financial and analytical skills, including the ability to influence at the most senior levels.
  • Experience preparing CEO-level materials and external earnings support.
  • A strategic focus but able to work at a detailed level.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and thrive in unchartered territory.
  • Passion and drive to succeed and a ‘deliver’ mentality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, in particular effective verbal, and written communications skills.
  • Track record leading global commercial FP&A forecasting cycles, including LTP, mid-month, and outturn processes.
  • Proven success partnering with R&D, Portfolio Analytics, and Commercial leaders across multiple regions and therapy areas.

Responsibilities

  • Co-Lead with the Director of Global Commercial FP&A, the Global Rare Disease Therapy Area medium-long range financial forecasting.
  • Deliver Long Term Plan (LTP) while using key partnerships within R&D and Global Portfolio Analytics.
  • Partner with Therapeutic Area Commercial Leads to handle financial performance and target delivery.
  • Streamline and improve reporting and analytical ability to support constantly evolving business structure and environment, using sophisticated solutions and automation with the latest technology and AI models.
  • Prepare complex analytical models to support deeper business understanding and improved forecast accuracy.
  • Process owner for Rare Disease Quarterly Business Review (QBR) to prepare CEO for external earnings' release.
  • Deliver regular financial performance briefings to Senior Leadership team, Enterprise Financial Planning and Analytics and AZ Group Finance.
  • Work closely with GFS to determine the essential analytical dashboards in PowerBI required to support business decision and manage Anaplan forecasting tool to streamline forecasting and reporting.
  • Drive the mid-month and Outturn forecast exercise, understanding and challenging the key assumptions used to determine the latest revenue forecast provided by the TAs and Regions.
  • Handle the key deliverables from our Center of Excellence in Costa Rica (GFS-Global Finance Services) aligned with business expectations.
  • Responsible for the GMMA (Global Marketing and Market Access) financial budget and monthly cost performance, working closely with the GMMA Business Leaders.
  • Work closely with Global Commercial Finance TA Leaders to consolidate monthly commentaries and explanations of business variances and identify periodically risk & opportunities vs budget.
  • Discover, investigate, and implement AI solutions that directly influence business analytics and insights, enabling faster and more informed decision-making.
  • Ensure the effective use of financial data and integrate it with external sources to maintain high quality standards.
