About The Position

Kasa offers flexible accommodations for guests in dozens of markets nationwide. We partner with multifamily and hospitality property owners to property manage various unit types in our portfolio, including short-term rental apartments, Apart-Hotels, and traditional hotels across price and quality tiers. The Associate Director, Finance will lead our property level financial strategy, planning, operations, and partner reporting. As a senior leader, you will drive financial excellence, enabling the company to scale effectively while meeting the needs of our guests, property owners, and internal teams. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and leadership expertise, along with a deep understanding of finance and accounting within the hospitality or real estate industries. About the Team Kasa is building an efficient and effective Finance and Accounting team to ensure best-in-class financial reporting and guest satisfaction. You will be joining a team with diverse backgrounds in technology, hospitality, real estate, and private equity. The team focuses on building scalable processes by being resourceful and having a growth mindset. This remote role will be part of a mission critical team, allowing for significant upward mobility within a fast-growing organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; a Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of proven experience in senior financial management roles, in hospitality (strongly preferred) or other real estate operating businesses
  • Subject matter expert on USALI and GAAP Reporting Requirements for the hotel industry
  • Exceptional leadership skills with demonstrated success in managing and scaling finance teams
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, ERP systems)
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, reporting standards, and compliance requirements
  • Strategic thinker with a strong ability to provide actionable insights for senior leadership
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a proven ability to influence key stakeholders
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments with competing priorities

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership through comprehensive financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and scenario planning
  • Oversee the property level month-end and year-end close processes for an +85 property portfolio, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting for internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Conduct the monthly and annual processes of consolidating financial results into Kasa stand-alone financial reports, in accordance with GAAP and USALI
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on USALI and GAAP reporting requirements at the property level, opining on how to handle accounting for new requirements and business changes
  • Assist the Finance Director with responsibilities impacted by portfolio and property results, including consolidated Kasa, Inc. variance explanations
  • Enhance and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and controls to optimize operational efficiency and mitigate risk
  • Oversee property level cash management and treasury function
  • Manage ad hoc owner financial reporting requests and analysis
  • Manage Finance Managers and Property Accountants (Staff and Senior), overseeing workloads, coordinating new responsibilities, and managing project and ad hoc assignments as needed
  • Serve as the escalation point for portfolio and property level issues that Finance Managers are not able to independently resolve
  • Ensure the Property Finance Team complies with SOPs and best practices, including balance sheet reconciliations
  • Serve as point of contact for cross-portfolio issues and questions that impact all properties (e.g. how parking expense affects the calculation of operating profit for managed properties)
  • Represent Finance in company-wide initiatives, providing insight into Finance implications and directing the Finance Team's support of those initiatives
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering growth and creating a culture of accountability and collaboration
  • Oversee the revenue accounting function, ensuring revenue reporting accuracy across the portfolio
  • Manage the Senior Revenue Accounting Analyst and partner with the Kasa Mexico Manager on managing Mexico-based resources
  • Drive focus on strategic initiatives and process improvement in revenue accounting and reporting
  • Serve as the escalation point for revenue accounting issues the Senior Analyst is not able to independently resolve
  • Lead projects related to property and portfolio level reporting and accounting, including automation and optimization initiatives, SOP implementation and documentation, and the adoption of new accounting standards
  • Champion the adoption of tools, technologies, and best practices to enhance financial operations and reporting capabilities
  • Partner with the accounting team to streamline reconciliations, audits, and financial record-keeping processes
  • Lead the annual audit, collaborating with the audit team and Kasa team members to ensure a successful process
  • Lead initiatives to ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards, while staying ahead of evolving industry requirements
  • Act as a thought partner to Revenue and General Managers to improve portfolio performance and financial outcomes
  • Deliver insights that address guest, property owner, and operational challenges in the global accommodations market

  • The Pay: The starting base pay range for this role is between $134,000 and $154,000 and is set based on multiple considerations, including business needs, market demands, talent availability, experience, and unique skills and attributes. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified. This role may also be eligible for equity, bonus, perks, benefits, and Kasa Travel Credits.
