About The Position

Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) seeks an Associate Director, Digital Product Design. This position reports to the Senior Director, Product Management in the External Affairs Division of PPFA. The Associate Director will lead Digital Strategy teams in adopting Product Design systems programmatically, ensuring a user-centered approach to product discovery that aligns with the team’s strategy. The role involves managing and mentoring a team of two Product Designers and collaborating across multiple interdisciplinary product teams to enhance user experiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • 4-7 years of expertise in designing and launching scalable end-to-end digital experiences.
  • 1-2 years of demonstrated record of leading the implementation of product design programming.
  • Strong product design portfolio emphasizing accessibility, minimalism, and clarity across digital formats.
  • 3-5 years of extensive experience with product design tools such as Photoshop, Sketch, Illustrator, Figma, and online prototyping tools.
  • 3-5 years of experience working with brand standards.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience designing, conducting, and synthesizing lean user research.

Responsibilities

  • Directly contribute to the broader Digital User Experience program strategy.
  • Act as a strategic thought leader and influencer among Digital Strategy leadership, product managers, and engineering leadership.
  • Manage and mentor a team of two Product Designers.
  • Advise and partner with peers and senior colleagues within PPFA and affiliates.
  • Manage vendors to provide tools and/or consulting services to PPFA.
  • Ensure strategic execution of programmatic design systems across the Digital Strategy ecosystem.
  • Maintain Accessible Design System by organizing content structure to match user categorizations.
  • Collaborate with the User Research team to execute research and testing plans.
  • Define user experience within the PPFA digital ecosystem.
  • Push the evolution of accessible design patterns and themes.
  • Lead cross-product evolution of Interaction Design patterns throughout the PP digital ecosystem.
  • Champion design thinking and human-centered digital innovation.
