About The Position

The Mount Sinai Health System seeks an exceptional development professional to expand its high-end annual capacity and to raise philanthropic support for The Tisch Cancer Center (TCC) and its related departments. The Associate Director should be a self-starter who enjoys working with donors and prospects in a hospital setting, and who possesses strong skills as a project manager. His/her role will be to support all aspects of high-end annual solicitation including: identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. This role operates within a hybrid work model, with on-site expectations established in alignment with departmental priorities and evolving organizational guidelines. Employees must reside within a commutable distance of the 42nd Street Midtown NYC office. The role may also require occasional evening or weekend hours. Cover Letter Required

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Six years minimum of fundraising or related experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and build relationships with donors, volunteers, and colleagues
  • Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and fundraising abilities
  • Strategic thinker with sound judgment and strong analytical skills
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage a demanding meeting schedule

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: familiarity with fundraising databases and knowledge of medical institutions, including typical academic, administrative and financial infrastructures.
  • Knowledge of Raisers Edge or other Fundraising related databases
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in academic medical setting and /or complex nonprofit fundraising environment and have experience with capital campaigns, volunteer management, and alumni relations.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit high-end annual gifts (under $100K), as well as develop a major gift pipeline with particular focus on the areas of strategic clinical and research areas within and related to the Tisch Cancer Center. He/she will manage a portfolio of 200-300+ donors and grateful patient prospects and will develop and implement appropriate solicitation strategies highlighting the strategic priorities of the institution.
  • Meet activity and revenue goals defined in partnership by the Executive Director of Development and the Senior Executive Director of Development according to the specific needs and opportunities of the institution.
  • Work in partnership with Stewardship and Events colleagues to plan and execute events to cultivate, educate and steward major donors and prospects.
  • Promote positive donor relations through thoughtful, tailored communications and stewardship strategies.
  • Partner with Development Communications and Annual Giving colleagues to develop and implement a digital donor communication that highlights the activities and priorities across TCC to increase donor support and engagement.
  • Interact with internal contacts such as Faculty and Development staff as needed.
  • Evaluate various gift opportunities and giving vehicles and recommend the most suitable for a particular donor.
  • Develop, write and present proposals appropriate to donor’s interest and financial situation.
