Job Summary The Associate Director of Cybersecurity is a leadership position responsible for driving the strategic and operational direction of ZOLL's global cybersecurity function, ensuring alignment with the overall global Security and IT strategic direction. Reporting to the Director, Security, this role ensures that all cybersecurity activities are effectively managed, visible, and aligned with organizational priorities and risk appetite. The Associate Director serves as the primary representative of the Cybersecurity function to business and executive leadership, translating technical issues into business risk language, fostering trust, and ensuring that security initiatives enable the company's strategic objectives. This position provides hands-on leadership for the cybersecurity team, develops talent, matures processes, and optimizes tools and investments to deliver measurable improvements in protection, detection, and response capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Information Security, Computer Science, or related discipline required
  • Minimum of 8+ years of progressive cybersecurity experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role required
  • Relevant professional certifications (CISSP, CISM, CISA, or equivalent) Preferred
  • Proven ability to represent cybersecurity to executive leadership, articulate complex risks, and build credibility at senior levels.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, operations, and governance practices.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maturing cybersecurity functions and teams.
  • Experience managing budgets, contracts, and third-party security relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & People Management Lead, mentor, and manage a global team of cybersecurity professionals including managers, supervisors, leads, engineers, and analysts, establishing clear objectives, performance standards, and professional development plans. Foster a high-performance culture centered on accountability, engagement, and continuous learning. Conduct regular one-on-ones, feedback sessions, and coaching to develop leadership capability within the team. Partner with HR and Talent Acquisition to attract, retain, and develop top-tier cybersecurity talent.
  • Cybersecurity Strategy, Operations, and Maturity Align a a multi-year cybersecurity roadmap with the overall Global Security and IT strategy, focusing on strengthening defenses, aligning with business priorities, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Ensure cybersecurity strategic plan aligns with overall Global Security and Information Technology priorities, requirements and interdependencies. Oversee day-to-day security operations, including incident detection and response, vulnerability management, threat intelligence, and identity and access management. Lead initiatives to mature cybersecurity processes, policies, and governance frameworks to achieve operational excellence and business trust. Continuously optimize security tools and technologies, ensuring they are fully utilized, cost-effective, and integrated across the environment. Drive the adoption of modern security architectures (e.g., zero trust, cloud security posture management, automation) to enhance resilience and efficiency.
  • Business Partnership & Executive Engagement Act as the primary cybersecurity liaison to executive leadership, business units, and cross-functional partners. Build strong, collaborative relationships with senior leaders across the organization, promoting transparency and alignment between cybersecurity and business priorities. Present cybersecurity strategy, metrics, and key risks to executive leadership and relevant governance committees. Provide expert advice to business leaders on cybersecurity implications of initiatives, investments, and emerging threats. Embed cybersecurity awareness into the organizational culture through engagement, communication, and training.
  • Governance, Risk & Compliance Lead the development, maintenance, and enforcement of cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures. Conduct and oversee risk assessments, control testing, and audit preparation. Ensure compliance with applicable frameworks and regulations (e.g., NIST CSF, ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR). Partner with enterprise risk, internal audit, and legal to maintain visibility and alignment across all assurance functions.
  • Financial & Vendor Oversight Develop and manage the cybersecurity budget, ensuring effective prioritization of resources. Evaluate, select, oversee, and manage cybersecurity vendors and managed services to ensure performance and value. Lead efforts to rationalize and consolidate cybersecurity toolsets for cost-effectiveness and improved visibility. Collaborate with leadership, purchasing, finance, and legal to ensure security contracts and spend align with strategic objectives.
  • Reporting, Metrics, and Communication Establish and maintain security dashboards and KPIs that communicate performance, trends, and risks to leadership. Provide regular executive updates on threat landscape, incidents, and program maturity. Ensure timely and transparent reporting on major initiatives, projects, and outcomes.
