About The Position

As a global leader in smart, healthy and sustainable buildings, Johnson Controls is on a mission to reimagine the performance of buildings to serve people, places, and the planet. The position is part of the Global Strategy group, working closely with business units to define and execute long-term vision. The role involves developing and executing proprietary inorganic growth strategies around existing JCI businesses to ensure sustainable growth, ultimately resulting in a higher valuation. The position reports to the Executive Director - Business Development, Global Products & Solutions, and supports corporate business development activities (M&A) for Johnson Controls Americas group. Responsibilities include identifying opportunities for inorganic growth, developing strategies for market expansion, and supporting the definition of new lines of business through research and analysis.

Requirements

  • Proven capability of collecting & evaluating market trends, industry analysis, and competitive landscapes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
  • Experience in developing investment theses, business cases, and executive presentations.
  • Experience with market assessments, including primary and secondary market research, segmentation, and data-driven growth projections.
  • Effective project management skills.
  • Experience in coordinating with various stakeholders across different departments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information and proprietary data.
  • Bachelor's in Science plus Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from an accredited college in a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of business & strategic development experience including management consulting, a functional role (P&L leadership, sales, engineering or manufacturing) or strategy in support of M&A transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive business results.
  • Develop business cases and presentations that communicate complex ideas and strategies.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders, including senior executives, entrepreneurs, and investors.
  • Stay up to date on industry developments, analyze market data and research, and identify opportunities for growth and improvement in current and adjacent markets.
  • Support corporate business development activities (M&A) for Johnson Controls Americas group.
  • Identify opportunities for inorganic growth and develop effective strategies to capitalize on them.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities, providing insights to inform strategic decision making.
  • Assist in cultivating relationships with potential partnership/acquisition targets to drive growth and business expansion.
