About the position

The Consulting Principal – Economic Consulting role at S&P Global Market Intelligence is part of the Global Intelligence and Analytics (GIA) consulting team. This team supports customers by providing a comprehensive view of the geographies, sectors, and operating environments that influence organizations, their suppliers, and customers. The role involves designing unique solutions using extensive data and analysis across economics, industry, supply chain, logistics, geopolitics, and risk. The successful candidate will lead client engagements, developing technical and strategic solutions alongside fellow consultants, researchers, subject matter experts, and data teams. The focus will be on clients in the consumer/retail, manufacturing, and service sectors, utilizing economic and econometric analysis to meet unique client needs. Responsibilities include preparing macroeconomic scenarios for stress testing financial institutions, analyzing consumer behavior, and maintaining the US demographics model, tracking population and migration trends across various demographic sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Project management including an internal and external project leadership role.
  • Conceptualizing technical approaches and methods, and communicating these in presentations, proposals, and pitches to clients.
  • Conducting in-depth economic analysis including preparation of macro stress-testing scenarios, demographic modeling, and macro/microeconomic scenario research.
  • Conducting and supporting econometric modeling and forecasting.
  • Presenting methodological processes and project findings to clients, leading analysis and reporting of insights, and providing technical support tailored to client needs.
  • Supporting the commercial team in building a pipeline of business focused on macroeconomic scenarios for financial institution stress testing, demographics, consumer market analysis, and general scenario analysis.

Requirements

  • PhD or master's degree in Economics with up to 5 years of work experience, preferably in consultancy and/or macroeconomic and demographic modeling.
  • Experience with preparation of macroeconomic scenarios for stress testing and US household demographic research.
  • Mathematical aptitude with strong ability to work with scaled datasets and interpret economic data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex economic concepts clearly.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective relationships across multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Ability to use programming languages for data and economic modeling, ideally in Eviews software.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as R and Python.
