About The Position

Georgetown University comprises two unique campuses in the nation's capital. With the Hilltop Campus located in the heart of the historic Georgetown neighborhood, and the Capitol Campus, just minutes from the U.S. Capitol and U.S. Supreme Court, Georgetown University offers rigorous academic programs, a global perspective, and unparalleled opportunities to engage with Washington, D.C. Our community is a close-knit group of remarkable individuals driven by intellectual inquiry, a commitment to social justice, and a shared dedication to making a difference in the world. As a part of the country's oldest Catholic and Jesuit university, the Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching, and Service (CSJ) animates Georgetown University's Jesuit values and mission through its work in research, teaching, and service. CSJ further animates the mission to educate people to be of service to others, become reflective lifelong learners, responsible and active participants in civic life, and committed professionals who pursue justice and the common good. The Center for Social Justice takes a curricular approach steeped in cultural humility and epistemic justice to the delivery of co-curricular programs and services. Reporting to the Director of Engaged Scholarship and Pedagogy, the Associate Director, Immersion and Community Engaged Learning plays a pivotal role in the CSJ's efforts to fulfill Georgetown's Jesuit mission broadly in the community engagement ecosystem, and CSJ's social justice mission in particular, through immersion learning experiences for students, faculty, and staff, community-engaged learning pedagogies for faculty and staff, support and/or management of academic initiatives; and oversight of the entire lifecycle of immersions, including off-site trips. This position ensures that there is consistent engagement at the CSJ and within the university with the preferred pedagogies of immersion and community-engaged learning, infused with critical reflection.
