About The Position

The University of Denver's Division of Community Support & Engagement (DCSE) is dedicated to cultivating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of the DU community. Position Summary The University of Denver's Division of Community Support & Engagement (DCSE) is seeking an Associate Director for Community Connections and Engagement to join our team. The AD will have a joint reporting structure. In reporting to the Director of Multifaith and Pluralistic Engagement, the AD will assist in supporting the envisioning and implementation of initiatives and engagements that promote multi-faith resourcing and pluralistic engagements across the university. Jointly, the AD will also report to the Director of Community Connections, supporting the work of the Community Connections Team (CCT), who work to support faculty, staff, and students across the university. The AD will work evenings and weekends, as needed. This position is full-time, 1.0 FTE. The AD should embody both strong alignment with the University’s values of inclusion, innovation, excellence, integrity, and education, as well as a commitment to efficient and collaborative work.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree from an accredited university program.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant education and/or work experience related to university processes and engagements.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative and mutually beneficial relationships with university communities and organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement community programming events and to work productively with individuals across campus to make university events inclusive and successful.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of experience working in areas of community engagement in higher education
  • Work experience in higher education or similar educational settings

Responsibilities

  • Provide programmatic framing, oversight, and training for students as part of a renovated dialogue program.
  • Work with units and departments throughout DU, creating support structures for sustained dialog that engage students across difference.
  • Support the creation and implementation of trainings centering on pluralism in the academy and workforce for students and staff.
  • Cultivate collaborative work alongside practitioners across the university in the work of pluralism, including but not limited to the National Academy of Freedom of Expression and 4D.
  • Support the Director of Multifaith Engagement in creating, cultivating, and evaluating interfaith programming for faculty and staff.
  • Create connections with the Office of Spiritual Life and DCSE toward implementation of consistent services for all members of DU’s religious, spiritual, and faith-based community.
  • Support this area of work through platform utilization of Crimson Connect and social media apps.
  • Support Director of Multifaith & Pluralistic Engagement in the administration of assessment/evaluation for this area of work in alignment with divisional expectations and values.
  • Provide general support for the Director of Multifaith & Pluralistic Engagement.
  • Support Student programming and initiatives alongside the Director of Community Connections and Engagement.
  • Oversee purchasing, inventory, and inventory processes in support of affinity+ groups for faculty, staff, and students in collaboration with the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Partnerships and Operations.
  • Oversee supply and material management for student level affinity+ groups.
  • Provide support and guidance for student level affinity+ groups alongside the Director of Community Connections and Engagement.
  • Create and implement trainings for affinity+ group leadership in partnership with the Office of Student Engagement toward preparing leadership for transition and implementation from year to year.
  • Support Director of Community Connections in the administration of assessment/evaluation for these areas of work in alignment with divisional expectations and values.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate programs and services that connect students to faculty, staff, and alumni in ways that cultivate a sense of belonging to the wider DU community.
  • Support Director of Community Connections in developing a hub approach to student engagement with faculty, staff, and alumni in co-curricular spaces.
  • Develop and coordinate DCSE Ambassadors program.
  • Provide general support for the Director of Community Connections and Engagement.
  • All members of the DCSE team support and engage with the DU community across constituency groups toward creating inclusive education and workspaces, the work of dialogue, pluralism, and de-escalation in programmatic planning and implementation.
  • Manage DCSE’s use of Crimson Connect.
  • Support DCSE in planning and hosting signature and large-scale events.
  • All other Division support as needed.
