Associate Director, Clinical Development Finance (CDF) is responsible for overall financial support for translational medicine across all therapeutic areas in Global Clinical Development. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for overall financial support for partnerships and collaborations across the General and Specialty Medicine, Vaccines and Infectious Diseases therapeutic areas. The incumbent will manage a team of financial professionals, supporting clinical cost forecasting and analytics, supporting clients and clinical sub-teams, conducting monthly close activities, tracking of actuals, and ensuring compliance for clinical out of pocket (OOP) spending, and external engagement with collaboration partners. The incumbent is also responsible for developing, coaching, and managing team members to meet both business and individual goals. Under the guidance of the Director, Global Clinical Development Finance, the Associate Director will: Oversee the forecast process related to Translational Medicine studies, as well as providing financial support for associated collaborations with external partners across the General & Specialty Medicine, Vaccines and Infectious Diseases therapeutic areas. Work across the CDF team to provide financial reporting and analytical support in order to enhance business insights for our Research Department business partners. Lead a team of finance professionals serving as point of contact for multiple stakeholders including external partners, Global Project and Alliance Management, Early Development Team (EDT) Leaders, Product Development Team (PDT) Leaders, and Clinical Study Managers regarding study budgets, site and vendor related payments Partner with Discovery, Preclinical, Translational Medicine (DPTM) Finance to monitor progression of preclinical candidates (PCC) and assess financial impacts of PCC conversion to clinical compounds Develop and participate in team presentations to the Discovery and Translational Research Committee (DTRC) and the Late Development Review Committee (LDRC). Support project team decision making by providing relevant financial information and insight Own critical components of the Long Range Operating Plan (LROP), Budget, and Quarterly Forecasts Confirm accurate accounting of all US site payments related to visits completed, milestones completed and reimbursement for out of pocket expenses according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, the Sarbanes Oxley Act as well as internal and external accounting guidance This is a unique opportunity to: Gain end-to-end exposure to our Company's drug development process and the R&D pipeline while gaining relevant experience supporting a function within Global Clinical Development. Influence and impact by helping clients navigate a world of almost limitless scientific opportunities with limited financial resources. A background in science is helpful, but not necessary. Expand your toolkit beyond standard P&L analytical approaches, including big data analysis, clinical studies, partnerships and collaborations management, and resource allocation analysis. Further develop your creative thinking and problem-solving skills as many problems don’t have hard anchor points or routine analytical approaches. Increase your network through engagement with other business partners (Clinical, Project Mgmt., Procurement, etc.) Gain experience in people management, change management, and project management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of operations or Finance experience

Responsibilities
