Cell Signaling Technology (CST) is a life sciences company founded and run by active research scientists, dedicated to providing high-quality products and services to support scientific discovery. The Associate Director of Automation will play a crucial role in scaling CST's capabilities in the discovery, development, production, and validation of antibodies. This position is designed for a highly motivated individual with extensive experience in laboratory automation, who will lead a team of engineers and scientists to identify new automation opportunities and optimize existing processes while ensuring quality standards are met. In this player/coach role, the Associate Director will oversee the execution of the automation roadmap, which includes annual planning, new method development, training, and operational tasks such as instrument maintenance. The successful candidate will establish operational objectives for the Automation Team, collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute goals, and create project plans while tracking timelines and communicating progress to stakeholders. The role requires strong communication skills, outstanding organizational abilities, and the capacity to interface effectively with scientists, vendors, and other stakeholders. The Associate Director will also be responsible for designing and establishing integrated platforms for automated end-to-end solutions, utilizing various scheduling and standalone software. They will work closely with scientists to develop, optimize, and implement automated workflows for antibody development and testing, validate and QC automated protocols, and supervise the training of scientists and end users. Additionally, the role involves managing automation equipment, including service contracts and regular preventative maintenance, while proactively identifying opportunities to improve workflows and evaluate new technologies that enable automation.
