About The Position

The Assistant Director of Annual Giving oversees the annual giving program for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). This program currently involves approximately 350 donors and achieves more than $2 million in contributions annually. The program includes oversight of various donor groups such as the Avant-Garde young patrons, the Curator's Circle, and the museum's annual LACMA Fund, all of which generate unrestricted support for the museum. The Assistant Director is responsible for the overall program strategy, which includes direct mail and electronic fundraising efforts aimed at growing the supporter base, renewing memberships, and upgrading gifts to ultimately reach a goal of $5 million in contributions over time. In this role, the Assistant Director will manage staff and provide oversight for all aspects of the Avant-Garde, Curator's Circle, and LACMA Fund administration. This includes tracking and managing expense budgets, monitoring income reports for the Annual Giving Programs, and developing an annual strategic plan for growth. The Assistant Director will oversee the strategy development, design, and implementation of direct mail and online giving solicitations for the annual LACMA Fund, with the goal of increasing the number of donors and prospects. Additionally, the Assistant Director will manage a detailed schedule of direct marketing activities, including copywriting, design, production, mailing, and list selection and segmentation. The position requires analyzing the performance of annual LACMA Fund campaigns and appeals to refine the segmentation strategy, as well as editing and approving all correspondence related to the annual giving program. The Assistant Director will also oversee the timeline, communications, and processes for renewals, invitations, and acknowledgment letters. Collaboration with the Annual Giving and Events staff is essential to establish a calendar of cultivation and stewardship activities for annual giving program patrons. Participation in donor events, which may include occasional evenings and weekends, is expected, along with some travel to meet with donors and implement programmatic activities. The Assistant Director will work closely with the broader Individual Giving team to strategize recognition and stewardship across all gift levels and collaborate with curators, volunteers, and membership staff to engage potential Annual Giving constituents.
