What is the opportunity? Serve as a key member of RBC’s U.S. Law Group advising RBC’s U.S. Capital Markets platform across multiple product areas with a focus on global derivatives regulatory matters across Macro and Spread products, futures related matters including exchange, clearing, and trading relationships, and fixed income securities. What will you do? Serve as counsel providing regulatory guidance and legal advice to RBC's Swap Dealer and Security-Based Swap Dealer, including regulatory margin requirements. Serve as secondary counsel to RBCCM’s Macro and Spread (Fixed Income) sales & trading businesses, including FX, Rates, credit, derivatives, high yield, distressed trading and electronic trading, and all related legal and regulatory matters. Advise on regulatory considerations and new initiatives. Perform major role in collaborating with front office, Litigation, and control functions across the enterprise as needed regarding regulatory inquiries and special remediation efforts arising out of covered business lines. Assist in managing external counsel relationships with respect to engagements deemed necessary in connection with the foregoing. What do you need to succeed? Must-have 3-9 or more years of experience in practicing law as it applies to banking and financial services. Juris Doctorate and member in good standing of bar of a U.S. state with at least an in-house New Jersey certification. Substantial knowledge of, and experience with, U.S. securities laws, rules and regulations and keen understanding of the requirements and roles of key functional partners and other internal stakeholders. Nice-to-have Strong problem-solving, judgment, oral/written communication, and decision-making skills. Strong ability to establish and manage processes and procedures. The expected salary range for this particular position is $220,000-255,000 depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs. You have the potential to earn more through RBC’s discretionary variable compensation program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.
