About the position

The Associate Director - Advanced Manufacturing Deployment and Digitalization at RTX Corporation is responsible for leading the development, demonstration, and transition of advanced manufacturing technologies within the aerospace and defense sectors. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to optimize manufacturing processes and digitalization efforts, ensuring successful adoption of innovative technologies across various business units. The position requires strategic planning, funding acquisition, and engagement with operational teams to enhance manufacturing capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and transition of advanced manufacturing technologies to business unit operations teams.
  • Identify key offramps and transitions for advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Engage with transition partners to close capability gaps for successful technology adoption.
  • Define and propose internal and external funding to support technology transition.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to execute IRAD and CRAD programs.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management and external partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, or related field with 12+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 9+ years, or a PhD with 7+ years of experience.
  • Proven track record of transitioning new manufacturing technologies into production in regulated industries.
  • Experience with digitalization of manufacturing processes to improve operations.
  • Hands-on knowledge of various manufacturing methods including additive manufacturing, machining, and forming.
  • Experience in defining and executing large, multi-year strategic programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in proposing and executing IRAD and CRAD projects in a leadership role.
  • Background in optimizing supply chains and developing technologies for resilience.
  • History of patents and peer-reviewed publications.
