Job Summary Reporting to the Executive Director, the Associate Director manages the daily planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of operations, research, and clinical practice within the Advanced Heart Disease and Lung Transplant programs. The Associate Director acts as a leader and skilled professional, taking responsibility and accountability for applying the nursing process and delivering patient care. Collaborating with CTC leadership, the Associate Director supports efficient and continuous improvement in clinical and service quality. They coordinate with the Quality team to ensure all state and federal laws, accreditation, regulatory agency standards, and licensure requirements are met.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate programmatic lead staff to maintain excellence in clinical care for transplant patients.
  • Craft CTC communications and reports.
  • Serve as a role model for staff dedication by promoting employee engagement.
  • Encourage the maximum growth and development of each employee.
  • Anticipate staffing needs and collaborate with other departments in cross-functional process improvement.
  • Maintain constructive collegial relations with service line, division, and clinical/support medical staff.
  • Ensure patient safety in the Advanced Heart & Lung Tx clinical setting and engage in patient experience programs.
  • Work directly with Programmatic Managers, Assistant Managers, and Leads (i.e., Heart/Lung Lead Transplant Coordinators, CMY/Lung Lead NPs) to maintain guidelines for patient care and management throughout the transplant and disease management division.
  • Direct daily functions of the Advanced Heart Disease & Lung Transplant programs.
  • Coordinate all administrative processes applicable to assigned unit(s).
  • Act as a point of contact between medical staff and other personnel.
  • Direct and supervise the annual performance of staff.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of CTC Finance for budget preparation, labor and supply cost management, revenue improvement, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Perform HR-related functions.
  • Support research, take part in planning for both long and short term goals, and ensure patient advocacy.
  • Monitors staff performance within their roles and responsibilities, ensuring accountability at multiple levels including facility and department.
  • Possess knowledge of clinical and technical skills required by the Nurse Practice Act, Title 22, Joint Commission, The Plan for Provision of Nursing Care, and related regulations.
  • Adherence to National Patient Safety Goals, support for quality improvements, and clinical care delivery management.
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, and staff retention while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Participation in Unit Practice Council and TCAB.
  • Maintain competencies in caring for special populations and patients from diverse cultures.
  • Identify safety concerns and apply measures to maintain a safe environment.
  • Guide staff in fulfilling customer needs, consistent with the Medical Center's philosophy, mission, vision, strategic plan, The Plan for Provision of Patient Care, The Performance Improvement Plan, and Professional Organization Standards.
