As an Associate Denim Designer at Joe’s Jeans, you will play a key supporting role in the seasonal design and development process. Working under the direction of the Senior Designer, you’ll help bring denim styles to life—from concept to final product—through trend research, sketching, sample development, and collaboration across cross-functional teams. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to grow their technical and creative skills within a fast-paced, denim-focused environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in apparel design; denim experience preferred.
  • Strong sketching ability and proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (Mac environment)
  • Knowledge of garment construction, wash processes, and fabric behavior (especially denim)
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with PLM systems and tech packs is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Research and identify brand-right seasonal trends and concepts
  • Conduct competitive market analysis and assist in concept deck creation
  • Source fabrics and trims and support in the development of CADs and presentations
  • Support execution of seasonal category design within the context of the overall assortment and cost strategy
  • Create flat sketches using Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Fresco for denim garments including jeans, jackets, skirts, and shorts
  • Help prepare tech packs, update spec sheets, and maintain accurate product records in PLM or shared drives
  • Support fabric and trim selection, wash development, and sample tracking
  • Attend fittings and assist with fit notes
  • Maintain design libraries, sample archives, and organizational tools
  • Track development milestones to ensure on-time sample delivery
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners in technical design, production, and merchandising
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external vendors
  • Support follow-up on sample status, fabric approvals, and wash standard hand offs
  • Work closely with the Senior Designer to ensure design execution aligns with brand and business goals
  • Bring a collaborative, solutions-oriented attitude to the team
  • Take initiative to learn and manage up when appropriate
  • Stay organized, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
