About The Position

Hinds Community College is seeking an Associate Degree Nursing Instructor who will report to the Director of Associate Degree Nursing. The instructor will be responsible for engaging students in active learning and maintaining a positive and professional environment. The role requires a commitment to the Caring Campus approach to student engagement, ensuring meaningful connections with students. The instructor will also be involved in various professional development activities and will be expected to maintain current professional credentials.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree with a major in Nursing.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a registered nurse.
  • Unencumbered registered nurse license to practice in Mississippi.
  • Satisfy a criminal history background check, drug screen, and other clinical requirements.
  • Teaching experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Med Surg experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.
  • Implement teaching strategies that engage learners in active learning.
  • Utilize cutting-edge technology in teaching in the classroom, laboratory, simulation center, and clinical setting.
  • Complete required professional development activities by designated deadlines.
  • Participate in professional development activities, professional associations, presentations, publications, applied educational research, consulting, evaluations, and similar activities.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner appropriate to the teaching/learning experience.
  • Demonstrate fairness in the assessment and evaluation of students.
  • Collaborate with others to improve educational experiences.
  • Participate in student/faculty and faculty/administrator evaluations and performance review conferences.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with students in all interactions.
  • Willingly serve on College, Center, division, and program committees as appointed.
  • Participate in program assessment and evaluation, including College annual planning activities and state and/or national accreditation activities.
  • Work a minimum of 35 hours each week during each contracted semester.
  • Attend general faculty, center, and program meetings.
  • Check College e-mail during the work week and respond in a timely manner.
  • Provide feedback to students in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Follow program chain of command to communicate issues or concerns.
