About The Position

The Associate Dean for the School of Global Journalism & Communication (SGJC) within the Division of Academic Affairs is responsible for ensuring that faculty are properly trained in student management systems and that records are maintained in accordance with MSU policy and accrediting requirements. This role involves working closely with the Dean to develop both short and long-term strategic operational plans, ensuring alignment with MSU master plans. The Associate Dean will also assess capacity, resources, limitations, and barriers to the development, submission, and ongoing management of grants.

Requirements

• Terminal degree in journalism, media production, strategic communication, or a related field (PhD preferred).
• Qualifications to be appointed as an associate professor or preferably a full professor with tenure in one of the Academic Departments in SGJC.
• Significant administrative experience at the level of department chair, program director, or similar positions.
• Ability to travel and work in an office environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records, verifying content with appropriate sources and correcting errors.
• Ensure faculty training; confirm registrations, attendance, and collect reports regarding performance and outcomes.
• Assist the Dean in strategic planning; conduct regular meetings, complete assignments, and provide resources and documentation as required.
• Identify capacity, resources, limitations, and barriers to development; conduct research and confirm information in direct specifications as requested by the Dean.

Benefits

• Salary range of $130,000 - $140,000 per year.
