The Associate Dean of Students for Middle School works under the guidance and direction of the Dean of Students and School Culture to address student disciplinary issues and culture and climate as it relates to students in grades 6-8, and is in constant and close communication with major constituencies in the school including students, parents, and educators. The Associate Dean of Students' work will focus closely on ensuring a developmentally appropriate and humane transitional experience for entering students and classes, as well as developing programming and content to ensure the middle school student body is acculturated to the norms and philosophies of the school. The Associate Dean of Students will also serve as the Summer Program Director for Geffen Academy's summer program, which serves both Middle School and Upper School students. The Associate Dean of Students will work closely with the Middle School Division Director, the Learning Specialist office, Assistant Middle School Academic Dean, and the Dean of Students and School Culture to monitor student learning and progress and behavioral and social-emotional wellbeing. They will attend important middle school events and co-create and curate events with the Dean of Students and School Culture and other departments. They may also be an advisor to other select middle school programs and/or clubs.
