About The Position

INTERNAL POSTING: Open only to applicants currently employed by East Carolina University. Associate Dean for Strategic Operations and Partnerships is a senior leadership role in the College of Nursing designed to advance the College's mission through the development and stewardship of strategic partnerships, operational innovation, and cross-campus collaboration. The Associate Dean will serve as a key member of the College's executive leadership team, reporting directly to the Dean, and will play a pivotal role in shaping the College's future through external engagement and internal operational alignment. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Operations and Partnerships Strategic Partnerships and External Engagement Lead the development and management of strategic partnerships with health systems, foundations, industry stakeholders, and community organizations that support nursing education, research, and service. Cultivate and sustain relationships that diversify and expand the College's resource base, including philanthropic, grant, and contract opportunities. Represent the College in local, regional, and national forums to elevate its visibility and influence in nursing and interprofessional education. Collaborate with University Advancement and the Office of Research to align partnership strategies with institutional priorities. Oversee the College of Nursing's recruitment office and funding to ensure alignment with partnerships and strategic opportunities, and maximize academic program recruiting opportunities. Operational Strategy and Internal Integration Serve as the operational bridge across the College's leadership structure, identifying and implementing efficiencies that enhance the effectiveness of academic, clinical, and administrative functions. Support Associate and Assistant Deans in aligning operational processes with strategic goals, ensuring high-quality program delivery and student outcomes. Lead new initiatives that improve organizational performance, resource utilization, and infrastructure to support innovation and growth. Lead market assessment, design, and curricular development of new academic pathways that expand the College of Nursing's position as a leader in nursing education. Strategic Planning and Reporting Provide leadership and oversight for the College's strategic planning processes, ensuring alignment with the University's mission and long-term goals. Coordinate the development and implementation of strategic initiatives across academic and business functions. Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) to inform decision-making and continuous improvement. Cross-Campus Collaboration and Institutional Leadership Strategically position the College of Nursing as a leader in interprofessional collaboration and cross-college partnerships at ECU. Facilitate joint initiatives with other colleges, departments, and centers to advance the University's mission of student success, regional transformation, and public service. Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and shared purpose across academic and administrative units. Integrates UNC System, University, and College of Nursing strategies to expand program access, delivery, and expansion through innovative curriculum delivery mechanisms and funding opportunities. This appointment is contingent upon the availability of funds.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in nursing or a related field, plus a master's degree in nursing.
  • Distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and service appropriate for appointment at a senior faculty rank/title of Associate Professor/Professor if eligible for tenure or Clinical Associate/Associate Professor for fixed-term.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with curriculum development at the Baccalaureate degree level and higher degree programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in fostering Academic, community, and or industry partnerships.
  • Demonstrated experience with hospital administration and or healthcare finance.
  • Demonstrated experience in academic nursing leadership.
  • All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
  • A valid non-restricted North Carolina nursing license is required upon employment.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
