About The Position

The Associate Dean of Instruction will provide assistance to the Dean of Instruction's Office by ensuring high-quality educational program offerings, coordinating institutional safety measures, and providing assistance with academic services to the Dean of Instruction. This position provides overall supervision and evaluation for academic adjunct instructors. The Associate Dean of Instruction will comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College (NACC).

Requirements

  • Excellent skills in writing and communication
  • Ability to work closely with individuals from a variety of backgrounds
  • Possess excellent computer skills and the ability to apply educational technology software
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Understanding of college educational services
  • Ability to interpret and apply the standards of regulating and accrediting bodies, such as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and the Department of Education
  • Understanding of the mission and goals of Northeast Alabama Community College and the Alabama Community College System
  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution is required
  • Minimum of three years of experience in instructional program planning/management and/or education administration, including supervision of personnel preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Dean of Instruction with the following: maintenance of high-quality educational programs, including assessment and review of delivery methods and courses;
  • coordinate placement, supervision, and evaluation of adjunct instructors;
  • faculty communication, specifically with adjunct faculty; and
  • special professional development projects for faculty.
  • Provide assistance to the Dean of Instruction in preparing semester course schedules that serve student needs
  • In coordination with the Dean of Student Services, assist the Dean of Instruction with the Dual Enrollment program, including the selection of educational sites and courses and with course registration periods
  • Continually assess the technological needs of instructors and coordinate with the Director of Educational Technology Support to meet these needs
  • Assist with new student orientation
  • Coordinate and supervise institutional safety measures, including, but not limited to an annual review and revision of the Crisis Management Plan to ensure its accuracy;
  • scheduling and conducting semesterly safety and security drills;
  • working with the Dean of Instruction to resolve any safety and security issues;
  • regularly assessing security equipment to ensure that everything is in working order; and
  • conducting the annual Office of Civil Rights facilities analysis to ensure campus compliance
  • Serve on the Behavioral Intervention Team and assist with follow-ups to references as requested
  • Maintain appropriate work hours as outlined in State and College policies
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the College
  • Maintain currency of professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education
  • Recruit students for Northeast Alabama Community College
  • Have knowledge of and commitment to the philosophy and objectives of Northeast Alabama Community College
  • Represent the College and its philosophy to prospective students and to others in the community
  • Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Instruction and/or the President
