About The Position

The Associate Dean for EGTC Health Sciences is responsible for ensuring the integrity, excellence and ongoing development of the educational programs in the Health Sciences College. The Associate Dean manages aspects of instruction within the college. This includes faculty supervision, curriculum and assessment oversight, and adherence to standards as required by accreditation and industry regulation. In addition, the Associate Dean supports instructors in developing skills in the preparation of effective learning (lesson) plans, presentation of content, classroom management, and school and community communications. The Associate Dean supports the Instructional Dean of the College in strategic planning, program development, and by representing the college and the programs in both internal and external relations. The Associate Dean works closely with the Instructional Dean to develop and monitor College budgets and support college-wide and programmatic accreditation. This job description is written from a general College perspective. Each incumbent will be associated with a specified college.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree is required; Master's Degree in Health Science, Education, or a related field is preferred
  • Ten (10+) years of experience in related field is required
  • Two (2+) to five years of experience administering academic programs is required
  • Two (2+) to five years of experience in a supervisory role is required
  • Experience in curriculum development, materials selection, teacher training, and assessment planning
  • Experience working with a diverse student population
  • Knowledge of program management best practices
  • Work style that yields high results when working independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to foster effective relationships with district staff, schools, and external partners
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals, establish priorities, and organize resources

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support departmental faculty: Interview, hire and onboard new faculty; Mentor and support new faculty members
  • Provide classroom observations and goal setting/performance appraisal reviews
  • Ensure teaching methodologies and approaches align with outcomes and objectives of the programs
  • Monitor professional development activities
  • Perform substitute duties when required
  • Supervise program course delivery and ensure that it is current and aligned with school and college goals
  • Manage program faculty and ensure timely submission of required paperwork, projects, and assignments for program administration and accreditation
  • Manage and maintain accurate list of all part-time and full-time faculty and their credentials.
  • Manage student relationships and diffuse escalated classroom management issues.
  • Ensure that each program’s entry requirements, curricula and outcomes align with the program, department, and school’s goals and mission.
  • Implement and revise curriculum, assessments, materials, syllabi, program handbooks and policies in alignment with program goals and industry needs.
  • Provide ongoing training and follow-up in the use of classroom instruction, management, and assessment tools.
  • Review assessment results for the program, and participate in the development of an improvement plan.
  • Use assessment data to plan instruction.
  • Develop and maintain program schedules and course compliance in alignment with internal and external requirements including the Colorado Community College System (CCCS), the Council on Occupational Education (COE), the Department of Regulatory Affairs (DORA) and additional programmatic or industry accreditation agencies as applicable.
  • Review course listings and content to ensure they are accurate, current, and relevant to market needs.
  • Maintain industry connections and serve on city and state committees and sector partnership workgroups.
  • Plan, set strategy, develop and adhere to budgets, and work with faculty to report on student outcomes (such as completion and employment) for grants, accreditation, and other.
  • Manage and supervise self-study and compliance reporting for external (accreditation, grants) and internal requirements.
  • Manage ongoing requirements for accreditation and grant compliance.
  • Support the dean in representing the program and school both internally and externally.
