About The Position

The Associate Dean will work closely with the Dean on various responsibilities, including academic programming, staff supervision and development, student success, faculty recruitment, evaluation, and development, as well as accreditation and process improvement, and budget management. Key responsibilities and duties are outlined below:

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in a field relevant to current or emerging disciplines within the College of Education and Integrative Studies or related areas.
  • Must have achieved tenure or have a record to support tenure, based on effective teaching, scholarship, and service that merits appointment at the full professor level in the College of Education and Integrative Studies.
  • Three or more years of successful administrative experience related to the duties and responsibilities of this position.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of academic regulations, processes, and policies.
  • Demonstrated management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a budget.
  • Demonstrated record of success in inclusive excellence and community engagement.
  • Experience in a collective bargaining environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage academic programs across undergraduate, credential, master’s, and doctoral levels.
  • Coordinate curriculum updates, new course proposals, and degree developments.
  • Support faculty through evaluations and instructional guidance to maintain high teaching standards.
  • Oversee daily college operations, including committees and activities related to accreditation, program reviews, student appeals, curriculum, and budgeting.
  • Manage Credential Services and Clinical Placement Offices to ensure smooth functioning and alignment with institutional goals.
  • Manage staff processes, including hiring, supervision, performance evaluations, and development, while coordinating with HR as a Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act (HEERA) manager in compliance with Collective Bargaining Units 4, 7, and 9.
  • Supervise office staff, oversee CEIS Student Success Center advising, and manage college infrastructure in collaboration with IT.
  • Assist with fiscal management, grants, and contracts.
  • Support student success initiatives in collaboration with the Office of Student Success.
  • Collaborate with the Dean to evaluate and prioritize faculty hiring requests, set criteria and conduct evaluations for retention, tenure, and promotion, manage lecturer evaluations, oversee faculty professional development, liaise with Faculty Affairs, guide departments on evaluation documentation, and ensure compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements for Units 3 and 11.
  • Provide oversight for accreditation, assessment and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate program reviews.
  • Support stakeholder engagement efforts with TK-12 districts, community colleges and four-year partners.
  • Foster a positive college culture and enhance systems efficiency.
  • Assist the Dean with institutional priorities.
  • Oversee and support the development of comprehensive budgets and ensure efficient management of financial processes.
  • Collaborate with the Dean’s leadership team to uphold fiscal responsibility and strategically allocate resources to enhance overall institutional effectiveness.
