Cincinnati State is seeking an Associate Dean to oversee and direct the Allied Health programs within the Health and Public Safety Division. The qualified candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality of the Associate Degree Allied Health Programs and Allied Health Certificate Programs. The ideal candidate will be invested in team building, program excellence, and student success.

  • Provide input into the budget process for allied health programs
  • Maintain communication with faculty, students, the college community, clinical affiliates and accrediting and regulating agencies
  • Ensure regular meetings of the faculty and faculty participation in planning, implementing, and evaluating the curriculum
  • Ensure the orientation of new faculty and adjuncts and provide mentorship
  • Recommend faculty for appointment, promotion, tenure or retention, and termination
  • Facilitate faculty development, including enhancing educational competencies
  • Establish the faculty and or teaching assistant to student ratio for direct patient care experiences
  • Ensure a written policy related to the evaluation of faculty and instructional personnel is implemented
  • Verify that each faculty member teaching a course in the program holds appropriate academic credentials
  • Maintain resources, including but not limited to classroom and skills laboratory equipment and supplies necessary for students to successfully complete the program of study
  • Support and oversight of academic faculty
  • Availability of working evenings and/or weekends as required
  • Manage and coordinate instructional activities
  • Facilitate curriculum and program development, implementation, and review while working with divisional faculty and staff.
  • Manage and coordinate curriculum database and course documents
  • Facilitate the development and maintenance of articulation plans with various colleges, universities and secondary schools.
  • Manage and coordinate clinical affiliations.
  • Manage and coordinate accreditation processes and reviews
  • Address student concerns regarding academic-related matters.
  • Serve as a divisional representative to assigned college committees.
  • Assist the Dean in the management of full-time faculty workload
  • Assist the Dean in divisional activities including establishing divisional goals, preparing and coordinating the departmental and/or area budgets, building community.
  • Assist the Dean in promoting multi-disciplinary participation and teamwork throughout the Division
  • Develop and maintain business, community, and educational partnerships.
  • A Master's degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an instructor, advisor, program chair or in an equivalent administration position in higher education
  • Familiarity with the mission and function of a comprehensive community college
  • Experience with academic program accreditation
  • Experience as a healthcare professional
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate/interact effectively with professional, community, and student populations to provide a good impression of the College.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, detail oriented, efficient, able to maintain confidentiality and work independently, develop team leadership, and meet established deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple programs, faculty members and staff.
  • Excellent customer service, project management and time management skills, demonstrated ability in problem solving, analysis of data and situations and logical, decision-making.
  • Ability to manage resources effectively.
  • Possess the ability to be innovative with demonstrated commitment to student success.
  • Ability and willingness to work with students of various abilities and diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to students with a variety of academic, socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.
  • Ability to promote a positive team culture and apply principles of servant leadership.
  • Doctorate degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an instructor, advisor, program chair in an allied health program
  • Experience within a community college setting
