This position is responsible for business consulting activities for the Analytics Competency Center within various Duke Energy business units as a liaison to Information Technology in order to: Help translate data into business insights and valuable actions Discover business narratives told by the data and present them to other scientists, business stakeholders, and managers at various levels. Develop and test heuristics Create and run models Perform data exploration and data mining

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, MIS, Statistics, Economics, Physics or related field
• Bachelor's degree with 0 to 3 years' experience or a Master's degree in Data Science.
• Reliable, consistent transportation is required to ensure timely arrival at the applicable facility.
• Please note that in order to be considered for this position, you must possess all of the basic/required qualifications.

Nice To Haves

• Previous Duke Energy Intern/Co-op experience
• Previous experience working in data mining, natural language processing, and data governance
• Working knowledge of data analytic tools like SAS, SQL (Structured Query Language), R, IBM Cognos, etc.
• Strong knowledge of basic and advanced regression and prediction models
• Mastery of statistics, machine learning, algorithms and advanced mathematics
