  • Proficient in SQL with the ability to query, validate, and troubleshoot datasets.
  • Experience with Power BI data modeling and eagerness to learn formal dimensional modeling (star/snowflake schemas, fact/dimension tables, slowly changing dimensions).
  • Working knowledge of at least one major RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.).
  • Experience using or learning a modeling tool such as ERwin, ER/Studio, PowerDesigner, Lucidchart, dbt semantic layer, Power BI Model View, Tabular Editor, or similar.
  • Ability to document data entities and business rules clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work under guidance and incorporate feedback.

  • Power Platform tools.
  • Azure Services (Fabric Lakehouse, Fabric Warehouse, integration with OneLake).
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks, data lineage, and stewardship.
  • Basic knowledge of performance optimization for semantic models (DAX best practices, partitioning strategies).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and maintenance of conceptual, logical, and physical data models, building skills through mentorship and structured training.
  • Participate in formal data modeling training programs to strengthen theoretical foundations.
  • Normalize and denormalize data structures where appropriate.
  • Support the creation of data dictionaries, entity-relationship diagrams, and metadata.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and data engineers to translate business requirements into draft Power BI and database models.
  • Validate models by writing and running SQL queries and participating in peer design reviews.
