Summary The Associate Data Engineer on our Data Services team will assist in the development, maintenance, and optimization of data pipelines. This role will leverage Snowflake for efficient data storage and processing. As an Associate Data Engineer, you will collaborate with senior data engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless data integration, transformation, and accessibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing
  • 1+ years’ experience working on Snowflake or any cloud platform
  • Basic understanding of Snowflake and cloud-based data warehousing concepts.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for querying and manipulating data.
  • Experience with Python for data manipulation, automation, and ETL tasks.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes and data pipeline frameworks.
  • Experience working with structured and semi-structured data (e.g., JSON, XML).
  • Familiarity with version control tools such as Git.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • This role involves interaction and collaboration with other departments and requires excellent judgment and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Snowflake services, such as SnowPipe, Streams & Tasks, and Snowflake Security.
  • Knowledge of data orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, dbt).
  • Knowledge of data modeling, data integration, and database performance optimization techniques.
  • Familiarity with Python, Java, or other programming languages for automation and data engineering tasks.
  • Basic understanding of cloud services, particularly Azure.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, development, and optimization of Snowflake data pipelines by applying technical expertise to evaluate requirements, recommend solutions, and implement scalable processes.
  • Analyze, transform, and validate structured and semi-structured data (e.g., JSON, XML) to ensure accuracy, consistency, and business readiness, including identifying and implementing appropriate transformation logic.
  • Integrate data from multiple systems into the enterprise Data Warehouse, reconciling inconsistencies and ensuring adherence to data governance standards.
  • Design, write, and maintain efficient SQL queries for data extraction and transformation, optimizing for accuracy, cost efficiency, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain automated ETL workflows, selecting appropriate tools and implementing error handling, recovery logic, and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Monitor and tune Snowflake performance, analyzing usage trends and recommending and implementing architectural or configuration improvements.
  • Investigate and resolve data-related issues, including identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions, and designing preventative measures.
  • Deliver clean, reliable, and well-structured datasets to business stakeholders and analytics teams to support reporting, dashboards, and data-driven decision-making, while ensuring compliance with governance and security standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., Business Intelligence, Operations, Finance) to translate business needs into technical requirements, exercising discretion in prioritization and solution design.
  • Evaluate and, when appropriate, adopt new technologies or methodologies to support team objectives and address end-user requirements, in alignment with organizational priorities and policies.
