At Schwab, the Wealth & Asset Management Engineering (WAM) organization enables efficient business processes that use technology to scale and provide operating leverage for Schwab Asset Management, Financial Research, and Wealth & Advice Solutions. We are seeking an Associate- Data Engineer for our Data Engineering group within the WAM Engineering organization. As an Associate - Data Engineer, you will have a strong passion to learn and implement technology solutions to solve real world business problems. Responsibilities

  • Work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Analyze data and break down tasks into smaller components for systematic analysis.
  • Produce highly usable and scalable software solutions using advanced development technologies and best practices.
  • Solve problems in a dynamic customer-focused team environment using the newest technologies and techniques.

Requirements

  • A university degree from a well-respected academic institution; advanced degrees in Information management, Computer Science, Business Administration and/or other professional certifications are a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience in database development, RESTful web services, ETL/data processors, event-driven messaging on data centric platforms.
  • 2+ years of experience developing software in a Scrum environment using toolsets like Bitbucket, Bamboo, JIRA, and Confluence.
  • 1-2 years of Schwab technology domain experience as a current or recent contractor or employee.
  • Proficient with agile development process encouraging Pair programming, build backlog, story writing, collaboration, prioritization, team accountability and visibility.
  • Experience supporting the implementation of effective data engineering practices, such as creating, securing, and monitoring data pipelines and data stores.
  • Experience supporting the implementation of effective quality assurance testing approaches, such as rigorous testing and compliance verification.
  • Experience writing code to automate file movement operations over multiple transmission protocols (e.g., SMB, FTP, SFTP, Snowflake Sharing, etc.).
  • Experience with SQL, ETL, and other code-based data transformation and delivery technologies.
  • Experience in messaging and services-based software, preferably in cloud platform using RabbitMQ, Kafka or the equivalent.
  • Familiarity with Informatica Developer Tool set or Data Validation Option (DVO) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Eagle investment systems platform.
  • Knowledge and experience with complex XML and XSD data structures including parsers, XPath, and XQuery.
  • Experience and strong knowledge in one or more types of database management systems like SQL Server, MongoDB and Redis.
