About The Position

The Associate, Credit Risk at Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in Salt Lake City, Utah, is responsible for assessing and managing the risk of loss resulting from the failure of a counterparty to meet its contractual obligations across the firm’s trading and credit businesses. This role involves approving transactions, setting credit exposure limits, monitoring adherence to those limits, and measuring credit exposure and losses from counterparty default. Key duties include conducting in-depth analyses related to the causes and effects of credit events, performing sector and/or regional concentration analyses, and recommending and defending internal and regulatory risk ratings for counterparts and transactions. The Associate will also conduct counterparty research reviews and analysis of corporate counterparts, present findings and recommendations to senior management, and proactively monitor and assess counterparties and industry subsectors based on market indicators, regulatory guidance, rating agency commentary, and counterparty surveillance, reporting relevant information and its impact to senior management in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Computational Finance and Risk Management, Economics, or a related field and one (1) year of experience in job offered or a related role OR Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Computational Finance and Risk Management, Economics, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in job offered or a related role.
  • Prior experience must include one (1) year with Master’s degree or three (3) years with Bachelor’s degree with the following: applying accounting methods (both Generally Accepted Accounting Principle and International Financial Reporting Standards) to analyze financial reports and explain performance variances.
  • Preparing reports on capital calls and financing portfolios as well as presenting findings in terms of credit exposures and lending counterparties to senior management.
  • Analyzing credit documents such as underwriting memoranda and loan/derivative documentation.
  • Experience with credit regulatory processes such as the Shared National Credit or Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses.
  • Working with derivatives, loans and other products that give rise to credit risk to institutional counterparties.
  • Using credit bureau data and other alternate data sources.
  • Building financial models in Excel using advanced functionality, including macros, pivot tables, v-lookup, slicers, and h-lookup and Microsoft PowerPoint, to produce and present analytical insights and highlight data trends.
  • Utilizing Business Intelligence Software solutions, including Tableau, to provide actionable insights for Business decisions.
