About The Position

The Copywriting Lead at Paylocity is a strategic and hands-on role that combines leadership with creative writing. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining the company's brand voice and messaging guidelines, mentoring a small team of copywriters, and ensuring consistency across all communications. The role requires collaboration with various departments to create compelling content that resonates with the target audience and drives business results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, or related field.
  • 7+ years of professional copywriting experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of copy formats.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines for self and team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of project management tool Wrike is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Paylocity's brand voice and messaging guidelines, ensuring consistency across all communications.
  • Lead, inspire, and mentor the copywriting team, fostering creativity and professional growth.
  • Lead the development of a robust editorial/style guide, as well as brand voice enablement for content contributors across the organization.
  • Personally contribute to writing high-impact copy for a variety of projects, including marketing campaigns, web content, long-form articles, scripts, and sales enablement materials.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Design to ensure visual and verbal elements work seamlessly together.
  • Partner with stakeholders in marketing, product, and other departments to deliver clear, compelling messaging that drives business results.
  • Review, edit, and proofread copy to ensure it meets brand standards, is free of errors, and is optimized for audience engagement.
  • Monitor creative content performance metrics and apply insights to refine and improve future efforts.
  • Help identify and implement the correct AI tools to enhance productivity and efficiency.
