Requirements

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited college of law required.
  • Must be licensed in the state of Illinois.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of legal experience.
  • Legal research and writing on medical malpractice law matters.
  • Excellent business judgment, attention to detail, initiative, and ability to work both independently/autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within the organization’s legal department and across all business units.
  • Ability to generate ideas and solutions cross functionally within the organization.
  • Work effectively with team members to accomplish objectives and goals.
  • Ability to devise creative practical solutions to difficult legal issues.
  • Strong analytical capability combined with superior strategic thinking.

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive experience in the Courtroom desired.

Responsibilities

  • Day to day workup of medical legal matters on behalf of physicians and organization.
  • Assist in Court appearances for case management conferences, motion practice and trial.
  • Prepare motions to dismiss, dispositive motions and other legal briefs in support of client.
  • Manage discovery written and oral, including depositions.
  • Trial work, including motion in limine practice, voire dire, opening statements, questioning witnesses and closing statements.
