ABOUT THIS ROLE Audible is seeking a smart, experienced, creative and highly motivated Associate Corporate Counsel to join our legal team in a role supporting both Content and Commercial Litigation. The position reports to the Head of Legal, People and Places, is based in Newark, NJ and will be expected to come into the office 5 days per week. It requires the ability to travel on an as needed basis, and to work extended hours when necessary. ABOUT AUDIBLE Audible is the leading producer and provider of audio storytelling. Requirements

  • 2+ years of legal experience
  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
  • Experience as a transactional or ligation attorney
  • Experience in Privacy Law
  • 1+ years of experience with a leading national or international law firm focusing on audio content, IP or Compliance
  • A mix of transactional, marketing, consumer protection, and other regulatory experience
  • Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet deadlines
  • Proven written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the business, providing day-to-day legal input on business and strategy as well as serving as primary legal support
  • Develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways
  • Manage commercial litigation and government agency investigations
  • Draft and evaluate agreements for original audio content production, including rights acquisition, content creation, music licensing, production, performance, and distribution agreements
  • Act as production counsel for new productions, collaborating closely with producers and production personnel to address time-sensitive production-related inquiries and ensure timely and cost-effective productions
  • Coordinate and communicate with business affairs, finance, legal, and other departments at Audible/Amazon to ensure appropriate handling and escalation of issues, as well as provide advice on international and localization matters for original content
