About The Position

Exciting opportunity to join BMO as an Associate on the U.S. Power, Utilities and Infrastructure (“PU&I”) Corporate Banking team. BMO’s Corporate Bank is responsible for client coverage and relationship management; the origination, structuring and execution of lending transactions; collaboration with core Corporate Banking partners to drive product cross-sell; and, partnership with Investment Banking to provide current and prospective clients with creative financing solutions across Debt / Equity Capital Markets and Leverage Finance. The Associate position is responsible for providing transaction execution support over a variety of transaction types (Corporate Financing, Acquisition Financing, Bridge Financing), while also supporting client coverage by assisting with loan origination / structuring and cross-sell pitches (Treasury Products, Commodities, Trade Finance, Interest Rate Hedging, Leasing, etc.).

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in Corporate and / or Investment Banking with demonstrated aptitude in credit analysis and underwriting
  • Experience supporting the origination and structuring of loans, including revolving, term and bridge credit facilities.
  • Deal execution and project management skills – ability to manage multiple live transactions / projects / initiatives at a time
  • Strong skills in quantitative analytics, financial modeling and credit analysis
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to create and deliver professional presentations
  • Highly collaborative
  • Undergraduate degree with high academic achievement

Nice To Haves

  • Specific experience in PU&I and / or with more complex structures (project finance, hybrid corporate-project finance, multi-tranche and multi-creditor class, etc.) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting transaction execution for a diverse portfolio of PU&I clients
  • Preparing credit documentation (i.e. applications, memoranda, presentations, etc.) for internal and external stakeholders
  • Completing due diligence and credit analysis on new and existing client relationships. May include client calls, analysis of business models, and comprehensive review of industry trends and related regulations.
  • Ability to understand transaction risk factors (credit, market, operational, legal / compliance, etc.) and effectively communicate those aspects to relevant internal stakeholders
  • Monitoring clients, sectors and regulatory agencies for potential changes that may affect client portfolios and business needs
  • Generating updated financial models / analyses as business needs and industry requirements dictate
  • Collaboration with sector coverage partners to create internal and external marketing content
  • Creation of pitch books for clients with respect to financial solutions and participation in their presentation to clients
  • Supporting the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and regularly handle non-routine situations
