About The Position

Ampcus Inc. is a certified global provider of a broad range of Technology and Business consulting services. We are in search of a highly motivated candidate to join our talented Team. The Industry Contracts Officer (ICO) is responsible for the review, negotiation and execution of all industry sponsored research agreements. The incumbent determines the nature and scope of the relationship of University investigators to industry sponsors, and develops the business terms of the research project. Other duties include providing consultation to faculty, campus administrators and industry sponsor representatives in such areas as University clinical research procedures, policies, and contract language; training and educating campus about Industry Sponsored Agreements - Policies, Practices, etc., and participating in the strategy planning and implementation with Director of ICD to increase, broaden, develop and maintain University relations with industry. The ICO acts as a responsible business official for the University, and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of and application of standard principles, theories and concepts such as laws, regulations, and practices pertaining to the protection and management of intellectual property.
  • Skill in analyzing information and objectives to define problems and formulate alternatives.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills in a fast-paced, high-volume, dynamic and intellectually challenging work environment.
  • Ability to prioritize diverse projects and exceptional time management skills.
  • Exceptional inter-personal and communication skills; oral and written.
  • Business development and/or contracts experience, including drafting and negotiating agreements.
  • Knowledge of intellectual property law.
  • Knowledge of UC policies and practices with regards to industry relations.
  • Prior work experience in industry, preferably in the biotech, life sciences, pharmaceutical, or technology industries.
  • Prior University research administration experience.

  • Advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, negotiate and administer Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs), Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), Equipment Loan agreements, Clinical Service Agreements, Clinical Trial Agreements (CTAs) and other industry sponsored research and collaboration agreements.
  • Support companies who wish to sponsor research.
  • Facilitate compliance and administration of federal and state laws regarding research, conflict of interest, IP, contracts and employment.
  • Work on problems of moderate scope with analysis of situations or data requiring a review of a variety of factors.
  • Assist with conducting legal and/or policy analysis and recommend exceptions to policy.
  • Advise researchers on basic contracts and agreements in sponsored and collaborative research agreements including intellectual property clauses.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, events, etc. as needed.
  • Develop, implement and maintain industry contacts database.
  • Develop and implement public relations and marketing tools to achieve ICD goals.
  • Meet regularly with UCSF faculty and researchers to understand UCSF research projects.
  • Train and educate campus about Industry Sponsored Agreements - Policies, Practices, etc and how to work with industry.
