About The Position

Callan is seeking an Associate Consultant (Analyst) to join our Summit, New Jersey Fund Sponsor Consulting Group. In this role, you will support field consultants in strategic planning, performance evaluation, plan implementation, education, and business development. You will collaborate with specialty research teams to support the delivery of solutions to institutional clients, including corporate and public retirement plans, endowments, and more on either a discretionary or non-discretionary basis. We are looking for someone with a strong interest in capital markets, exceptional project management skills, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for building lasting client relationships. Strong attention to detail and effective written and verbal communication skills are essential. Over time, you will increase your level of responsibility to ultimately grow into a field consultant and manage your own client relationships. This position will be expected to work a hybrid schedule with three in-office days a week, Tuesday through Thursday. What’s Unique about This Role?   • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in finance, economics, or a related discipline (we are also open to those with differing backgrounds and a strong interest in financial markets)
  • Progress toward or interest in earning the CFA and/or CAIA designation, if not yet earned
  • 1 - 3 years of work experience preferred, particularly in the investment industry

Responsibilities

  • Assist the consulting team in developing project plans and annual reviews
  • Engage with Callan team members in researching and developing strategic advice and asset allocation analysis
  • Support the consulting team in providing guidance to clients as they navigate financial markets and their own changing circumstances
  • Draft/review statements of investment policy
  • Ensure timely delivery of reports produced by other teams within the firm
  • Coordinate prep meetings with consulting team to ensure client needs are met on a timely basis
  • Work closely with the performance measurement team and assist consultants in monitoring existing client portfolios by understanding and reviewing quarterly performance measurement and ad-hoc reports
  • Take ownership over the production of custom quarterly executive summary reports and commentary, which are presented during client committee and board meetings
  • Create detailed analysis at the total fund level, asset class level, and investment manager level
  • Prepare ad-hoc client presentations as needed
  • Assist in manager/product research as needed
  • Draft/review client and manager profiles for specific client manager searches
  • Coordinate meetings with the internal teams and investment managers
  • Assist in researching special topics for consultants and clients
  • Assist in developing customized educational information and/or seminars for clients
  • Customize quarterly capital markets information as needed
  • Present at educational workshops and webinars
  • Collaborate with consultants and other departments to respond to requests for proposal, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, well-written, and timely materials
  • Assist in general marketing efforts as needed
  • Assist in researching and providing consultants with information to build a successful relationship with prospective clients
