As an Associate Consultant, Traffic Engineer at WSP USA Inc., you will play a crucial role in the development, design, and construction of transportation projects. Your primary responsibilities will include collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from various sources such as physical work sites, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, and technical matrices. This data will be essential for project development and ensuring that all engineering work meets the necessary standards and regulations. You will perform professional traffic engineering tasks, which involve conducting investigations and inspections of existing and proposed site conditions, including roadways, intersections, signage, signals, and pavement markings. Your work will help determine compliance with applicable rules, standards, and permits, ensuring that all projects are executed safely and efficiently. In addition to inspections, you will assist in developing technologies and monitoring devices that enhance the safety and functionality of transportation systems. This includes modeling techniques and design requirements that incorporate future-ready solutions in traffic engineering. You will also verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on various traffic engineering studies, including capacity analyses and traffic complaint investigations. Your role will require you to conduct traffic counts to analyze traffic volume and patterns, and you will be responsible for writing technical reports that summarize your research findings. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential as you execute project work and assist in preparing work plans and coordinating field activities. You will also engage with engineers, planners, and authorities at various levels of government on transportation improvement projects, ensuring that all work adheres to WSP's Code of Conduct and ethical standards.
