About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Associate Consultant, Geotechnical Engineer ! This position is open to our San Antonio, TX office. Be involved in projects with our Transportation & Infrastructure Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. Your Impact Assist with work plan preparation and coordination of field/site work and laboratory testing Prepare geotechnical data reports Proven experience in Texas area geotechnical practice and geology Proven experience with TxDOT, Design Build projects, Renewable Energy, Transmission and Substation projects Willing to support field logging and/or field observation Prepare geotechnical calculations and conduct modeling, including slope stability, seepage and consolidation analyses Prepare geotechnical recommendations reports with senior review Assist with writing reports, cost estimating and permit documents Assist with the preparation of project design packages including technical drawings, specifications, project schedules, and cost estimates

Requirements

  • Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in geotechnical engineering
  • 2 - 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with excellent analytical abilities, leadership ability, and a positive attitude
  • Ability to work both independently and within groups
  • Competence in the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is necessary
  • Familiarity with discipline-specific design software - GeoStudio (SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, SIGMA/W, &QUAKE), LPILE, GROUP, SNAIL, MSEW, PLAXIS, DeepEX, Slides, gINT. CAD: AutoCAD, MicroStation
  • FE/EIT (or ability to obtain EIT within 1 year) required
  • Proven experience in Texas area geotechnical practice and geology
  • Proven experience with TxDOT, Design Build projects, Renewable Energy, Transmission and Substation projects

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Some prior experience in the civil, geological, or mining engineering fields are a plus
  • Master's degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in geotechnical engineering
