About The Position

The Associate Construction Manager assists in the management of all aspects of construction projects, from planning to closeout, ensuring performance certainty, including safety, project turnover dates, cost control, quality of craftsmanship, and customer satisfaction. This role provides leadership and direction in construction management policies and fosters key relationships with general contractors, trade partners, Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), and other essential project vendors and suppliers. The Associate Construction Manager will work closely with the Senior Construction Manager and/or Director of Construction Management to develop and implement construction management best practices, procedures, and tools. Travel may be required to support additional projects and pursuits across North America and potentially into LATAM, South America, and EMEA. The position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of large, fast-moving, complex construction projects that require a high degree of coordination and proactive leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in managing commercial construction projects, preferably with data center experience.
  • Knowledge of lean construction methodologies and tools.
  • Active listening and collaboration skills to engage stakeholders.
  • Basic understanding of project delivery methods including IPD, Design-Build, and Design-Bid-Build.
  • Basic understanding of contract methods including lump sum, CM at risk, and open book GMP.
  • Working knowledge of building construction and project management processes.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate construction documents including drawings and specifications.
  • Competency in CPM scheduling methods, construction cost estimating, and contract administration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and other industry applications.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Support projects from inception through customer or business turnover, focusing on preconstruction, construction, commissioning, and turnover phases.
  • Provide guidance and project leadership for ground-up construction, remodels, renovations, and fit-outs.
  • Organize and lead cross-functional work groups to achieve construction management best practices.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with the construction community, including general contractors and trade partners.
  • Manage project budgeting from inception through design phases and completion of building turnover.
  • Direct external vendors per project, including general contractors and design teams.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of company and departmental processes and best practices.
  • Create tools to empower contracting and design partners to innovate project delivery approaches.
  • Ensure effective contract administration, including management of contracts, change orders, and cost forecasts.
  • Inspect work to ensure it meets quality, specification, and schedule requirements.
  • Advocate for self-growth and seek training and professional development opportunities.
  • Report project status, successes, challenges, and plans of action to management.
  • Integrate with sales and solutions engineering teams during the revenue generation process.
  • Manage projects with a business mindset to meet directives of leadership.
