Parsons is now hiring for an Associate Construction Inspector to join our Indiana team! Responsibilities: Under general supervision, performs inspection tasks typical of any highway construction project, including monitoring and documentation of contractor activities. Inspects various facets of work on the construction site and performs continuous surveillance of assigned construction activities to ensure compliance with all applicable contract documents, standards, and specifications. Inspection tasks may include but are not limited to: clearing and grubbing, earthwork, subgrade prep including stabilization, compacted aggregate placement, concrete and asphalt paving, incidental construction ( guardrail, barrier wall, fence, sidewalk, curb ramps, curbs, bridge approaches, riprap, structural steel painting, seeding and sodding, landscaping), structure inspection including bridges (pile driving, pier and end bent construction, rebar placement, concrete placement, bearing placement, beam placement, deck forming, superstructure rebar and concrete placement, bridge railings), drainage structures (box culverts, storm and sanitary pipe, precast drainage structures, trenchless pipe installation, underdrains), bridge deck overlays, permanent and temporary retaining walls. Traffic control devices, sign installation, traffic signals, highway lighting, pavement markings, ITS. Conducts and/or participates in materials testing to determine if acceptable for incorporation into the work. May include any of the following: Performs civil and structural tests, such as soil compaction, moisture content, aggregation, graduation, concrete slump, air entrainment, yield, preparation and testing of concrete test specimens, lines and grades surveys, bolt torques, asphalt sampling, coring test specimens, pavement smoothness measurements, flowable fill sample testing and strength testing, pavement marking retro-reflectivity measurement. Sampling and testing of other materials as directed. Maintains office files related to the project, quantity calculations and writes daily diaries. Prepares daily reports and other documentation as well as photograph documentation of the project as required by the contract Verifies that only approved materials are incorporated in the work. Performs labor compliance interviews and maintains as-built plans. Recognizes potential conflicts, issues and problems, and reports to supervisor. Collects, reviews and files Certificate of Compliance, MSDS, inspection tags and other information relevant to the materials used. Reports on installed quantities to verify applications for payment and change order work. Responds to the call backs in case of emergency at the project site. May need to coordinate work of subconsultants for surveying and material testing. May participate in the development of job safety practices and in the preparation of safety reports. May participate in the development of quality control reports and procedures.
