About The Position

The Associate Cloud Engineer will play a crucial role in transforming the billing landscape at The Hartford by supporting the migration of applications to the cloud and developing new applications. This position involves working closely with architects and development teams in an agile environment to ensure that solutions align with architectural standards and business requirements, ultimately enhancing customer experience and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Math, or any Engineering.
  • Active AWS associate certification.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in application software solution development and execution.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Java and J2EE technologies.
  • 3+ years of systems design experience along with continuous integration and DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience using GitHub, Jenkins, Docker, and AWS CodePipeline.
  • Infrastructure as Code experience, like CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with AWS resources like Lambda, CloudWatch, ECS, EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, AWSBatch, Service Catalog.
  • Technical knowledge of AWS application development and Data Integrations.
  • Experience in front-end technologies like Angular.
  • Understanding of microservices, swagger, and APIC.

Responsibilities

  • Use AWS for building, deploying, and migrating legacy applications to Cloud.
  • Write and use scalable and secure APIs.
  • Enhance or convert existing components in Oracle relational database technologies.
  • Leverage architectural standards and safeguard the integrity of the application environment.
  • Design and implement new software architecture patterns in Cloud that are scalable, reusable, secure, and cost-efficient.
  • Use DevOps and CI/CD tools to develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CloudFormation templates and Python Lambda functions.
  • Implement proactive monitoring and observability to predict and detect abnormal system behaviors.
  • Provide concise communications about potential risks, mitigations, and business impacts.
  • Present new ideas to leadership and bring forward improvement opportunities.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally both in speech and in writing.
  • Design solutions and understand technology trade-off risks and rewards for customer value delivery.
  • Function as the go-to technical subject matter expert for software application migration to cloud.
  • Share knowledge with team members regarding development guidelines and best practices.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Drive innovation for effectively leveraging technology to solve customer problems.
