About The Position

Associate Clinicians work though the Saint John’s Program for Real Change to provide mental health services to adults in our program. Associates are afforded opportunities to practice and further develop their skills assisting clients in addressing effects of homelessness, trauma, behavioral and social difficulties, chronic mental illness, and other mental health issues.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work, Counseling, or Psychology
  • Registered as an ACSW, AMFT or APCC with the Board of Behavioral Sciences prior to the beginning of employment.
  • Fluent in English language (spoken and written)
  • Proficient knowledge of email, copiers, and internet
  • An incredible passion for our mission
  • Communication skills including strong writing; and attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to be sensitive to trauma and gender on behalf of the program.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Have organizational skills; good computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid California Driver’s License or Identification and proof of personal auto insurance is required.
  • Hire is contingent upon agency insurability.
  • Not currently on probation or parole. Must be discharged for at least 3 years.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal history background screening and receive clearance from the California Department of Corrections and maintain a yearly CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, and Tuberculosis test results.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct mental health evaluations or assessments for all new participants.
  • Provide specialized consultation and therapeutic treatment for clients with co-occurring mental health diagnoses or disorders.
  • Provide regular therapy sessions with clients.
  • Function as the liaison between the program and community mental health clinics, as well as other resources for participants with co-occurring disorders.
  • Facilitate various group activities, as needed, especially clinical groups on topics such as grief and loss, seeking safety, healthy relationships, etc.
  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Work with staff and participants to ensure a healthy and effective therapeutic community environment in the program.
  • Ability to get along and work effectively with others.
  • All other duties assigned by supervisor or other management.
