The City of Sacramento's Department of Public Works, Transportation Division is seeking an Associate Engineer to work in the City's Traffic Operation Section which is a high pace and dynamic work environment that is responsible for the operation, design, modification, and maintenance of the City's existing 800+ traffic signals, additional devices, as well as new traffic signals. The section's mission is to provide safe, efficient, and reliable mobility for all modes through the City's transportation system. To support the section's mission and meet the City's operational goals, the section deploys various technologies and maintains a robust communication infrastructure to interconnect traffic signals to each other. Under the general direction of a Senior Engineer, the Associate Engineer will review, develop, implement, approve traffic signal timing, and ensure the safe and efficient operations of the City's traffic signal system. This position will require working on location at traffic signals to program and troubleshoot traffic signal timing components and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) elements.
